Adventure Poem By Yvonne Holland

Adventure Poem

An adventure was planned, to Latvia land
A shack in the wild where two can firsthand
Plant veg and some fruit, cut wood and make art
Six months to work out, if they should be apart

Things had to change first, dispose of some goods
providing some funds for their life in the woods
A gift of a car, for a nominal fee
Some dents and some scratches for all to see

Car boot sale, up early to find the right spot
Lots of people there ready to see what they've got
A table inside was the best choice they made
As weather was rainy they needed to shade

Sold records and riding hat, fabric and books
Hoping their display would not be overlooked
The friends, they did well, sold some things they got free
a sense of achievement, they left there with glee.

A chance to sort out what they needed to live
Essentials required for the two to survive
A chance to have chickens and maybe some goats
To sit down by the lake and admire the boats

A yurt must be made and then packed on the top
leaving room in the car for the vitals they've got
Bikes to be taken, more records to sell
Seeds and the tools to grow crops where they'll dwell

Sewing machine, music, speakers and clothes
Necessary equipment along with some hose
An axe will be needed, a spade will be good
Hard work and determined to grow some food

The spring and the summer should be time enough
to test out the land and decide if it works
living in the forest, creating and sharing
Find out if you two make a successful pairing

Family from England will miss you plenty
Relations from Latvia will welcome proximity
Enjoy the experience, you make the rules
It is clear from your skills you are nobody's fools
